“We opened our first boutique in Switzerland in Lucern a few months ago, and it has been successful beyond our wildest dreams. We are now thrilled to open our second boutique in Switzerland,” says Jean-Christophe Babin. “Of the 120 countries in which TAG Heuer is present, Switzerland is our eleventh biggest market. We intend to bring it up just behind our very largest markets such as Japan and the U.S.”
TAG Heuer thus pursues its policy of developing its retail market by opening 2 new boutiques in Switzerland. This is all the more logical in view of the fact that travel retail represents 80% of turnover in the company’s home market.
Over the last five years the brand has significantly increased its focus on retail strategy, opening several new stores throughout the world. In Europe it has paid particular attention to establishing a presence in major tourist locations such as Paris, Lucerne, Venice and Munich. TAG Heuer currently has 4,500 points of sale all over the world, and 160 boutiques. Its long-term aim is to reach a total of 300 boutiques.
“A presence in Geneva thus fits in perfectly with our policy of developing a direct retail network,” concludes Jean-Christophe Babin. “With its amazing location we believe that this boutique will soon find its place as a favourite address for Genevans and for people from all over the world. Especially since it stocks an exceptional timepiece, the TAG Heuer Carrera Mikrogirder, which won the Aiguille d’Or (‘Golden Eagle’) award at the 2012 Geneva Watchmaking Grand Prix.”
