Fotomontagem de Grete Stern
Stern, Grete (1904-99), German-born photographer who studied graphic design at the Kunstgewerbeschule Weisenhof, Stuttgart, 1923-5, then photography with Walter Peterhans in Berlin 1927-9. With Ellen Auerbach she did innovative advertising and portrait work as ‘foto ringl + pit’, but continued working with Peterhans at the Bauhaus until her emigration to London in 1933. She married another Bauhaus student, Horacio Coppola, in 1935 and moved with him to Buenos Aires in 1937. She published Surrealist photomontages in various Argentinian Journals, and documented aboriginal cultures in Argentina.
