Swatch is looking to boost its workforce by up to 6 per cent as the world’s biggest watchmaker by sales struggles to meet surging demand in most of its markets.
Nick Hayek, chief executive, said investment in producing and selling watches, from simple Swatches to highly complicated Breguets, would at least match and almost certainly exceed last year’s levels.
The group, which employs more than 25,000 people, is looking to create 1,500 new jobs in production and distribution in Switzerland to address bottlenecks across its business.
