Meio milhar de marcas estarão presentes na Baselworld 2019. De 2013 para esta edição, a feira viu-se reduzida em dois terços (ver aqui). Nesse ano, aquela que já foi a maior feira de relojoaria e joalharia do mundo inaugurava uma expansão do seu espaço, encomendado ao gabinete de arquitectura Herzog & de Meuron, de Zurique, um investimento brutal que coincidiu com o início da crise do certame (ler aqui). A edição deste ano espalar-se-á pelos Halls 1, 3 e 4, numa diminuição drástica do espaço.
O espaço mais nobre, o piso térreo do Hall 1, tal como ele será este ano e tal como era no ano passado, antes do Swatch Group, o maior do mundo em termos de Relojoaria, anunciar o abandono em bloco das suas marcas.

“This number is smaller than it was in 2018 and certainly lower than we had hoped”, says Baselworld’s Managing Director Michel Loris-Melikoff. Many renowned exhibitors opted to return this year, especially in the jewellery sector, but also among the independent watchmakers. “I am accordingly confident that with our new concepts and offers we will be able to score points with exhibitors and visitors alike and that together we will achieve the turnaround”, says Michel Loris-Melikoff. “The process of transforming Baselworld into an experience platform is in full swing. We also plan to use this year’s show as an opportunity to present our vision for Baselworld 2020 and subsequent years to exhibitors and all interested parties. We have already received very good feedback from important exhibitors on the approach sketched in that vision.”
The most important innovations in the halls this year are: Central Plaza: A meeting place has been created in Hall 1.0 with restaurants, a bar and the new Media Centre. Jewellery exhibitors: Hall 1.2 is the new jewellery hall. It has been given a new attraction, the “Show Plaza”, where daily fashion shows, the press conference and the Opening Party can be experienced. Les Ateliers: The successful area of the independent watchmakers will be located in Hall 1.0 South in 2019.
