The 2019 edition of Baselworld will introduce “The Watch Incubator”, a new format that provides a business and communication platform for watch start-ups as well as new watchmaking projects. The new format has attracted many new eager participants. “The Watch Incubator” will be located on the mezzanine floor of Hall 1.0 South, in the immediate vicinity of the independent watchmakers in “Les Ateliers”.

“Anyone who keeps abreast of the industry knows that many new and very exciting watch brands are presently being launched. We received numerous enquiries from this sector because these brands wanted to present themselves to a global audience at Baselworld”, says Managing Director Michel Loris-Melikoff about the background. “With ‘The Watch Incubator’, we have created a tailor-made format for them. This format can give them the initial boost they need for their international breakthrough. Our goal and our hope, of cou se, are that new brands evolve from the incubator into brands that fit into either ‘Les Ateliers’ or even for Hall 1.”

All participants benefit from a furnished space of the same size. This gives each watchmaker and each start-up an equal opportunity to present their brand and their products. “The purpose of Baselworld is to serve and promote the entire watch and jewellery community with different packages according to the profile and needs of each brands. We are confident that these new watch brands will encounter precisely the right international target audience”, says Michel Loris-Melikoff.
