A leiloeira Phillips, em associação com Bacs & Russo está a preparar o seu leilão de Outono, que ocorrerá a 12 e 13 de Novembro, em Genebra. Mas já uma "talking piece" para o evento: um Patek Philippe referência 1518.
Produzido nos anos 1940 e 1950, trata-se do primeiro calendário perpétuo da manufactura genebrina a adicionar a complicação cronógrafo. Com caixa de aço, é a primeira vez que este exemplar vai a leilão.
É um modelo lendário, de que se fizeram apenas 281 exemplares, na sua esmagadora maioria com caixa de ouro amarelo.
Na versão de aço, conhecem-se apenas quatro exemplares. Desses, três foram a leilão em algum momento, tendo o último sido vendido há uma década. Agora, a peça a leilão em Novembro, redescoberta nos anos 1990, tem-se mantido na posse de um coleccionador privado.
A leiloeira estima que este calendário perpétuo cronógrafo da Patek Philippe ref. 1518 atinja um valor superior a 3 milhões de dólares.

The trend can also be seen in contemporary wristwatches, when in November 2016 during the Only Watch 2015 charity auction hosted by Phillips, a unique stainless steel minute repeater with perpetual calendar and tourbillon, a Patek Philippe reference 5016A, sold for 7.3 million CHF.
Aurel Bacs states: “Throughout my career, I have been longing for the day when I would be entrusted with the sale of a Patek Philippe reference 1518 in steel. Many collectors have also long awaited this occasion, which for sure will be a day to remember in Geneva. I had the great privilege of selling the above watches, each of them achieving a world record price in their own category. The results clearly demonstrate that the highly sophisticated movements by Patek Philippe, housed in steel - the most discreet, subtle, robust, yet understated case material - are the rarest pearls that one can ever find in the sea of vintage watches.” The three other examples remain in some of the world’s most important private collections, making this particular reference 1518 in steel a unique opportunity for anyone in the world to discover and admire this legendary timepiece.
