The number of foreign traders was substantial even if a contained decrease in those from the EU was registered, especially from those countries where the current delicate economic situation is having a greater effect. The presence of Mediterranean and Gulf area economies showed a recovery and was substantially in line with the expectations of buyers from the BRICS countries. The United States also showed renewed interest for the collections presented at Vicenza and the same can be said of South Africa. On the whole, buyers from Central and Eastern Europe demonstrated a rather conservative attitude. The domestic market, however, showed a further weakness in demand, which was confirmed by a drop in consumer loyalty indexes in regard to the propensity to buy under the present economic circumstances.

“Fiera di Vicenza is in the front line with gold and jewellery production,” said President, Roberto Ditri, “and it is ready to apply its experience and skills to support the efforts of companies and traders. In 2012 we will returning to Las Vegas again and also going to Dubai and Cortina d’Ampezzo for VICENZAORO About J. We will be closing the commercial season with VICENZAORO Fall in September. We are already planning ahead for 2013, 2014 and 2015, following the lines that the FDV 2011/2015 strategic project has drawn up and respecting our schedules. At the end of 2013, we will have an extended exhibition area that will provide exhibitors and traders with a further 15,000 square metres of space, new buildings, new services, new programmes and new projects.”

The General Manager of Fiera di Vicenza, Corrado Facco commented, “Despite the difficulties of the current world situation, VICENZAORO Spring was not only a demonstration of Fiera di Vicenza’s ability to move in the world and to formulate an offer with planning qualities, it also highlighted its role as an innovative reference point. We have created an all-round global interconnection with the markets by proposing Fiera di Vicenza and its business networking as an international launching pad and a place for thought and savoir faire.”
