Confederação Mundial de Joalharia realiza Dia da Esmeralda no Porto

O CIBJO, Confederação Mundial de Joalharia anunciou hoje que vai ocorrer um Dia da Esmeralda, promovido pela organização, a 13 de Março, um domingo, no Palácio do Freixo, Porto.

O Dia da Esmeralda será exclusivamente dedicado à apresentação e discussão do estado da pesquisa quanto à esmeralda, a pedra preciosa verde, variedade do Berílio. O programa pode ser visto aqui.

Milan, Italy, February 10, 2011 -- CIBJO, the World Jewellery Confederation has announced the details of a gemmological mini conference that will be held ahead of the 2011 CIBJO congress in Porto, Portugal. Following the success of "Ruby Day," which took place during the 2010 CIBJO Congress in Munich, Germany, "Emerald Day" represents the second gemmological mini conference in CIBJO Congress history.

"Emerald Day" will be exclusively dedicated to presentations and discussions on the research findings of emerald, the green gemstone variety of the mineral Beryl. The event will take place on Sunday March 13, from 15:00 to 19:00 hours at the Freixo Palace Hotel, Porto, Portugal.

The conference is the initiative of Dr. Margherita Superchi, a renowned Italian gemmologist who serves as president of the CIBJO Gemmological Commission. Dr. Superchi originally tabled the idea to hold an annual gemmological mini conference as part of the CIBJO Congress two years ago in Turkey. Superchi said her motivation to organize the event was to assure that gemmologists, jewellers and other industry professionals have an opportunity to discuss recent gemstone research and offer gemmological updates at CIBO congresses, as many of the subjects that concern CIBJO and its commissions are closely related to gemmology.

"With increasing consumer demands for gem-quality emeralds in traditional and emerging markets in Asia and Russia, the timing of the Emerald Day mini conference is perfect," Superchi noted.

Just as with Ruby Day, Superchi promised the Emerald Day conference programme to be fast paced and varied with presentations and discussions led by prestigious gemmologists from around the globe.
