Indústria diamantífera e joalheira mundial cria Fórum dos Presidentes

Reunidos hoje em Antuérpia, Bélgica, no âmbito do 36º World Diamond Congress, os líderes dos quatro principais organismos mundiais do sector da indústria diamantífera e de joalharia decidiram criar um "Fórum dos Presidentes", que será um novo orgão de consulta conjunto para discutir e formular estratégias e políticas coordenadas em matérias de interesse comum.

O Fórum dos Presidentes inclui Gaetano Cavalieri, Presidente da CIBJO, World Jewellery Confederation; Ernest Blom, Presidente da World Federation of Diamond Bourses (WFDB); Maxim Shkadov, Presidente da International Diamond Manufacturers Association (IDMA); e Edward Asscher, Presidente do World Diamond Council (WDC). A reunião foi presidida por Eli Izhakoff, Presidente Honorário Vitalício das CIBJO, WFDB e WDC.

Primeiro comunicado do Fórum dos Presidentes:

"As the elected presidents of international organisations, each of which counts among its members the key national organisations and leading commercial bodies in their respective fields, we collectively represent the rank and file of the diamond, gemstone and jewellery industry worldwide.

"The objective of The Presidents Forum is to reflect the interests of all participants and stakeholders in the industry through discussion and coordination.

"Among our first order of business the presidents of CIBJO, WFDB and IDMA will engage with the Precious Stones Multi-Stakeholder Working Group to discuss the creation of acceptable due diligence guidelines to defend the integrity of the supply chain. The President of the WDC will be consulted."
