For the second year in a row, Jaeger-LeCoultre put up an exclusive timepiece for the online auction to raise funds for "Tides of Time".
This year, the chosen timepiece was a 1958 Geophysic Chronometer, E168 model, which scaled the summit of Mount Antoine LeCoultre on the wrists of renowned mountaineers.
Between March 18 and March 24, Jaeger-LeCoultre received nearly 50 bids from 18 countries. The winning bid was £12,600. This collector will now have the pleasure of being the new owner of a remarkable timepiece steeped in history.
The entire proceeds from the auction will be donated to Sundarbans National Park, which has been on the UNESCO World Heritage List since 1987.
Jaeger-LeCoultre invites you to follow the next charity sale organised by Christie's to raise funds for four environmental associations. A Master Compressor Extreme W-Alarm “Tides of Time” has been put up for the so-called silent online auction which will run from April 8 to May 6 2010.
This “Green Auction” by Christie's pays tribute to the 40th anniversary of Earth Day on April 22 2010, which will also be celebrated at a charity gala in New York.
