TAG-Heuer reequaciona patrocínio a Tiger Woods

Swiss watch maker TAG Heuer, part of luxury goods maker LVMH Moet Hennessy Louis Vuitton SA, is reassessing ties with Tiger Woods following his admission of infidelity and decision to leave golf.

“Over the coming weeks we will assess our options with Tiger Woods,” Rachel Branch, a TAG Heuer spokeswoman, said today in an e-mailed statement.

TAG Heuer’s decision comes after Accenture Plc and Procter & Gamble Co.’s Gillette announced plans to drop the golfer from advertising campaigns. PepsiCo Inc., maker of Gatorade sports drink and another major Woods sponsor, continues to have regular communication with his agents, Massimo d’Amore, chief executive officer of Americas beverages, said today at the Beverage Digest conference in New York.

The watch maker signed an endorsement agreement with Woods in 2002, according to a statement at the time. The golfer announced on his Web site on Dec. 11 that he would be leaving golf for an indefinite period.

The company, based in La Chaux-de-Fonds, has featured Woods in advertising and tapped him to help design products including “the world’s first-ever professional golf watch,” according to a press release.

LVMH gained 84 cents to 74.46 euros today in Paris. The world’s largest luxury goods company has advanced 56 percent this year.
