Instituído o Dia Internacional da Relojoaria a 10 de Outubro

Logo Johann Terrettaz

O comunicado:

Now more than ever, it’s clear: watchmaking is an art in its own right—the Twelfth Art. The work of master watchmakers captivates collectors around the world, their craftsmanship widely admired and deeply valued. For centuries, people everywhere have marveled at the ingenuity and artistry of those who bring time to life.

Which makes it all the more surprising that, until now, there’s never been a day dedicated to watchmaking – especially when you consider that Horological and Mechanical Arts have been part of UNESCO’s cultural heritage since 2020.

World Watch Day is an invitation to share a passion for watchmaking in all its forms. The date? October 10 — a nod to tradition, as 10:10 is the time watches are typically set to when displayed. A subtle tribute to symmetry, beauty, and the joy of timekeeping.

October 10, 2025, marks the first edition of World Watch Day will be streaming online across time zones from East to West. True to its inclusive, participatory spirit, the day will bring together media outlets, watchmaking associations, collectors’ clubs, and content creators from around the world. The day’s program will explore every facet of watchmaking—from culture to science, from economics to sport, from traditional craftsmanship to contemporary art.

An association has been formed to coordinate this initiative, bringing together those who work to promote and share watchmaking culture worldwide. Its founding members include the Fondation de la Haute Horlogerie, Grand Prix d’Horlogerie de Genève, Watch Library Foundation, Horopedia, Horological Society of New York, Europa Star, Le Figaro, Hantang Culture, and Arc Horloger.

This association is open to all who wish to join and contribute. It is non-profit, inclusive by design, and will continue to grow as new participants come on board. In parallel with the October 10 livestream, the day is also open to any and all independent initiatives—wherever people are gathering to celebrate and support the world of watchmaking.
