Da marca:

The Glashütte Original MusicFestivalAward is given in recognition of service to the cause of classical music and support for young talents. Funded by the watch manufactory Glashütte Original in 2015 for the 12th time, the 25,000 Euro Award is presented jointly by the Saxon watchmaker and the Dresden Music Festival. Previous winners include such renowned artists as Gustavo Dudamel, Sir Simon Rattle and the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra, Hélène Grimaud, Thomas Quasthoff, and Hilary Hahn.

The Award

As noted above, the Glashütte Original Music Festival Award trophy was built by two apprentice watchmakers at the “Alfred Helwig School of Watchmaking” in Glashütte. Every year the school, owned by Glashütte Original and now in its 13th year, trains watchmakers and toolmakers. The form of the award trophy unites traditional watchmaking craftsmanship with modern materials. The Flying Tourbillon with its eighteen weighted screws symbolizes the virtuosity of watchmakers. The complication represents exceptional achievement in the art of watchmaking and was developed in Glashütte around 1920 by the master watchmaker Alfred Helwig.
