“Space-Time” is an exciting installation. A large colonnade of six columns stretches diagonally across the gallery to welcome visitors with an unexpected first impression – after all, this is Geneva, not Greece in ancient times. The artist delights in the bold imitation of noble stone and the proudly plastic renditions of mosaic, marble and granite.
This exhibition also comprises 40 fantasy-filled clocks. The heart and soul of each one is a long-playing vinyl record that enjoyed its last spin a long time ago.The artist delights in opening doors for playful creativity, teasing with the use of abandoned items and diverse materials to link the past with an artistic present.
Orianne Zanone’s creative process has many stories to tell. In addition to asking friends to contact her before any trip to dispose of something at the recycling centre, she also took her upcyling concept with her to China recently when she was artist-in-residence there.
Just picture the scene as the Swiss artist passed through the streets of Shanghai purchasing waste directly from the bicycles of passers-by, much to their amusement! Currently living and working in Switzerland, Orianne Zanone studied fine art in Lausanne (ECAL) from 2005 to 2009. She has exhibited widely in many Swiss cities and also taken part in collective exhibitions in China. Welcome to the world of the unexpected !
