Moçambique vai cooperar com Angola e beneficiar do conhecimento deste país em termos de geologia e minas, com vista à exploração de diamantes.
Lido no IDEX Online News:
Mozambique has agreed with Angola for the transfer of information relating to diamond mining.
The agreement follows a visit to Mozambique by Angola’s Minister of Geology and Mines, Manuel Queiroz.
Mozambique wants to learn from Angola’s experience in diamond mining, said the country’s Minister of Mineral Resources, Esperanca Bias.
Although there are diamonds in Mozambique, little is known about their quality and the country wants to find out exactly where they can be found and in what quantities.
Bias said the visit by Queiroz was an opportunity to review progress since the two countries signed a cooperation agreement in mining and geology in 2007.
“By the end of this year, our public companies must reach an agreement on how to advance with joint geological work”, Bias said in comments cited by allafrica.com. “We have a Mozambican team which will visit Angola in the coming months to discuss the Kimberley Process with the Angolan institutions,” she added.
